Saint Paul is a city of older homes, and that shows up in the work. Neighborhoods like Summit Hill and Cathedral Hill are packed with late 1800s and early 1900s construction. A lot of that original exterior plaster and stucco has been patched over the decades, sometimes poorly. We see homes in Crocus Hill and Mac-Groveland where three or four layers of mismatched repairs have built up over the years. Getting the color match right and restoring the original profile takes real experience, not just a bucket of mix.
The climate here earns its reputation. Saint Paul winters push hard below zero, and the freeze-thaw cycle from November through March does real damage to any exterior surface with existing cracks. Water gets in, freezes, and opens the gap wider. By spring, what started as a hairline crack can be a chunk of missing stucco. The summers swing the other way, with heat and humidity that stress coatings and finishes. Whatever we apply here has to hold through both extremes, and we factor that in on every job.
