Blueboard and Veneer Plaster Installation
Blueboard is a gypsum panel with a treated face that bonds directly with veneer plaster. It's faster than a full three-coat system and gives you a hard, tight finish that holds paint and texture cleanly. We use this combination on new construction and full remodels throughout Twin Cities Metro and Suburbs where the framing is open and we can set the board correctly from the start.
Veneer plaster goes on in one or two thin coats over the blueboard face. It cures fast and gives a surface that's harder than standard drywall compound. For homeowners who want the look and durability of traditional plaster without the time cost of a full build-up, this is often the right call.
Skim Coating for Damaged or Uneven Walls
Skim coating is what we use when a surface has surface damage, texture you want gone, or old compound work that reads through the paint. It's a thin finish coat applied across the whole wall to bring everything to the same level. The result is a flat, smooth surface ready for whatever comes next.
This service fits right alongside our broader interior plaster repairs. If you've had water damage, old wallpaper removed, or walls that were textured in the 1980s and you're ready for something cleaner, skim coating gets you there without tearing out the wall.
Cement Plaster for Exterior and Wet Areas
Cement plaster is the durable choice for exterior surfaces and any interior space that sees regular moisture β laundry rooms, basements, commercial kitchens. It bonds to masonry, concrete block, and metal lath, and it handles Minnesota's seasonal moisture swings better than gypsum-based products in those conditions.
As a full-service stucco and plaster contractor, applying cement plaster is work we do regularly on Twin Cities Metro and Suburbs properties right alongside our exterior stucco services. If you're unsure whether your project calls for cement plaster or a different system, we'll tell you straight on the first visit.
