Medina runs along Highway 55 and stretches north toward Lake Independence. The area has seen steady residential growth, with large-lot developments and custom builds replacing older farmsteads. A lot of these newer homes use stucco or EIFS exteriors because the finishes hold up well against the prairie wind that cuts across open land here. But that same wind, combined with freeze-thaw cycles that hit hard every spring, works cracks into stucco over time. We see it every season.
The older pockets near Medina Road and the southeast corner of town have homes from earlier decades that need more hands-on repair work. Hairline cracks that go ignored through one winter turn into water intrusion problems by the next. Medina's clay-heavy soil also shifts more than sandy ground does, and that movement shows up in exterior finishes faster than most homeowners expect. Catching it early saves real money.
